Lulu, Lala, and Lili went to a small hotel. One room costs $30 per night, so they shared $10 each. So the receptionist gave the $30 to the owner, and the owner asks to gave them $5 back since they're having a discount. The receptionist took $2 and gave them only $3. So each of them gets $1 back, which means they only paid $9 each. $9 x 3 = $27 + $2 that the receptionist took = $29. Where did the $1 go?

Lula Lala and Lili only got a dollar each not three.
the owner kept 2 of the dollars. 3 dollars left. each dollar goes to one of the girls. simple as that.
heres how it goes.
$30 for the room. 5 dollar discount. 25 dollars per room now. owner keeps 2 dollars and gives them 3. the girls divide the 3 amongst themselves a dollar each. no missing money.
