Where Do I Stand With Regards To My Bike Insurance?

My husband has a Kawasaki ZXR750 which was residing at his mothers address due to the fact the battery was flat and he needed to fit a new alternator belt onto it before he could get it going to move it to our house.

After my mother in law went home this morning after staying at our house since Thursday night, she had a knock on the door and it was the police who had said that she'd been a victim of a break in.
As she had just got home, she was unaware as it wasn't your usual break in scene, i.e the thieves hadn't been messy and nothing looked stolen. All that was wrong was that her Jewellery boxes had been turned out and oddly, the jewellery that had been on show had not even been touched.
It was only when she looked around she found my husbands bike keys had gone missing. We went down to see if maybe she had just misplaced them but it turns out they had indeed been stolen, as under close inspection by my husband, he had found the chain securing the back wheel had been taken off and the key had been placed in the ignition to try and start it to obviously steal it.
The back garden padlock had been taken off which had been attached to my husbands bike keys, so they obviously had every intention of making off with the bike had it started.
They had either been disturbed or they didn't see the point in dragging a bike out of the garden but whatever the case, my husband is now left with a bike that doesn't work due to having no keys.

My question is, are the Insurance Company likely to pay out on this?? I mean, the people actually forced entry into the house, the police have been informed so there is a crime reference number, they must have known what they were looking for as the keys were the only thing that had been stolen and they must have known the bike was there.
Due to the fact that without the keys, the bike is inoperable and the alarm fob was on the keys as well, would they pay out on third party fire and theft? The alarm would have bore no use even if the battery had worked because they had the keys which they had stolen from the house.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I am from the UK so it'd be helpful to have feedback from others who live in the UK also.

Many thanks.
