Where in the Bible did Christ or anyone teach that we can and should pray to people

who have died? I saw where The Lord's prayer teaches to pray to Our Father which is in Heaven but I see that Catholics pray to people that men have named as saints and that these people who have died now have the ability to hear or get prayer messages from all over the world. Does not praying to anyone other that God contradict the teaching of Jesus Christ?
I am not bashing Catholics, I just do not see how we can decide who has gone to heaven and if they did, how can they now hear us?
Personally I see in my Bible that the dead are in the grave until the day of resurection. If there is a day when Jesus returns to resurect the dead, how or why would He come to get those who are already in heaven?

What version of the Bible are you reading? Did not Elijah and Moses appear to Jesus when his apostles witnessed His transfiguration? Where were they? Obviously they were not in their graves waiting.
Didn't Jesus say to the thief being crucified with Him, "this day you will be with me in Paradise?"
So obviously, he was not waiting in a grave, was he? Or was Jesus lying to him?

Wasn't the poor begger, Lazarus in heaven looking across at the rich man in flames, in Christ's parable?

Where do you think the mother of Jesus is, waiting in a grave?

Perhaps your version of the Bible has been altered, or not interpreted correctly. When Christ comes again, He will restore His kingdom on Earth. Those in heaven are already assured a place, as Christ promised many times. Don't you even read the gospels? Those awaiting final judgment will not be part of His kingdom but will be cast into the pit.

Why wouldn't the dead be able to hear us? Only the living are bound by space and linear time.

p.s. Thank you Festus, you are right on. Catholics do NOT pray TO saints, we ask them to pray FOR us!

Catholics do NOT "pray to saints."

Catholics ASK the saints to pray FOR them. There's a difference.

Don't you ask people in your community to pray for you? That's what they do. They ask the saints, people who have lived good lives, and done good deeds, to pray FOR them. They consider saints role models of good Christian behavior, and believe they are with God.

I've never heard a Catholc say that any saint has more power than Jesus, or that any saint can ANSWER prayers. Just that they pray with them and for them...that's all.

Lots of Catholic bashing on this YA site and it's very un-Christian.

No where in fact Jesus didn't want to be prayed to either. See the Catholic Church had to make stuff up for Pagans to convert to make the Catholic Church because they wanted to control Europe.
