My car has been having problems starting for several months and finally I stopped starting completely the other day. I tried jumping it for 15-20 minutes and no results, which makes me believe its the starter not the battery. I have heard you can tap on the starter while trying to start it and that might work to get it to a garage

It's a cylinder shaped piece about the size of a loaf of bread located on the lower back side of the motor. You need to look under the car to see it.

The starter is bolted to the block low on the right hand side next to the bell housing. Follow the positive battery cable from the battery as it is attached to the starter solenoid which is on top of the starter.
