where is there a good camp ground near the smithsonian in dc?

some friends and i are planning a camping trip for a few days but want to be close to the Smithsonian to because we'll be staying in DC for a couple days too. Any suggestions on campgrounds and maybe even nifty hotels in DC. Thanks in advance!

I think this is the closest---Greenbelt Park http://www.nps.gov/gree/index.htm
It's only a few miles from a Metro station (subway) that can take you into DC.
