The best place to keep them depends on any other pets you have, who it will disturb, and it has to be in favour of the welfare of the hamster, for instance, you can't put it in a room that is too hot or too cold and is busy, you can't put it in a room where a cat is likely to go and sleep. Also keeping it in the kitchen at night, while it is awake, could make it cold for the hamster, seeing as temperatures drop at nighttime, especially with the kitchen, if u have a cold floor, the temperatures will be really cold, I usually find that my bedroom is colder than any other room, because its a large room, with a radiator behind the desk, and i have a laminate flooring
 
yea keep on it a clear non cluttered area that feels comfortable in temperature and humidity.
 
i put my hamster in my room for the day and the cage has a wheeel and it goes on it and it dus my heading so i put it in the kitchen at night , is tht ok ?
 
Away from the stove, if its a gas stove, away from windows, cause of a draft that is possible or hot sunlight. Away from where other pets can get it, away from where food is prepared or eaten.
Check to see where ac or heating vents blow, and keep away from that also.
 
Make sure it's on a clean and quiet place throughout the day, so it could sleep. I keep mine here in our "basement", it's actually a nice room, I keep my computer here and I spend time in here. It's a very nice and quiet place for my hamster, so you could do that if you want too! :D
