I can't decide how to cycle my 10 gallon (future) cory cat/betta tank. I would rather not do a fish cycle because corys are very sensitive to ammonia and they need to be added before the betta.
I can't find any pure ammonia in my area to do a measured ammonia method.
I am hesitant about throwing a shrimp or fish food in the tank to release ammonia because I heard that they can be very messy and gross, and can even introduce harmful bacteria into the tank.
I don't have a healthy tank or know anyone with a tank that I could take gravel or filter media from to seed my tank.
I'm at a loss-- what should I do? =(
