Samsungs HT-D6730W or Onkyo HT-S9400THX its an $800-1000 price range...
I could care less about features, bluray, and all the advertisement gimmicks. I am just wanting the best overall sound quality of the speakers. Or if you know a better htib for around the same price range that would be good to. I would think the onkyo would be better quality wise but its just hard to find reviews on it. Thanks

The Onkyo is a much better system simply because it gives you a full-sized receiver, self-powered sub and speaker set. You can hook up many things to this, you can swap out parts, etc.

The Onkyo comes with some nice options like the Audissy calibration routines to level adjust your speakers - a very nice touch.

The Onkyo system is a 'real' home theater system with room to grow.

With the all-in-one systems like the Samsung - the parts are NOT designed to swap out. We get 8-12 people whining here per week about wanting to use the speakers or sub or so-called receiver from their old system but add something new. We have to explain it to them that the ability to swap parts was something they gave up for the low price.
