Which is better, Comcast or Qwest (DirecTV)?

I live in Colorado and am about to get my first HDTV. My house came with a dish, but currently I just have basic cable. Which service will get me HD programming at the lowest price, and which has the best channel lineup, Comcast or Qwest? I hate how they advertise prices like "$39.99...FOR THE FIRST 6 MONTHS." I want to know what their regular price is after that period! Also they both seem to advertise that they have more channels than the other, but only one can be true...which is it?
 
I had to switch from cable to satellite when I moved to the country. DirectTV is a rip off. They charge you for everything (including 5 dollars to talk to a representative if you have a problem). We are thinking about not having "cable" at all just because DirectTV has been so bad and there is nothing else available. I don't know how good comcast is; just how bad DirectTV is.
