I am only asking because I would like to be able to protect myself when I am alone. Does anyone have recommendations?
Babasita, I have been interested in kickboxing for sometime, I think I will have to give it a chance.
What I mean by self defense is taking a self-defense class. Which in my town is available for women take part in.

Krav Maga is the Israeli Martial Arts that is most often taught to women. Its sole purpose is to inflict massive damage in a short amount of time to sole or multiple attackers. Outside of that for a one-on-one confrontation Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is handy to learn since it teaches people to defend themselves against bigger and stronger opponents through technique rather than brute strength.

Which is better for going over water? A boat or a ship? Karate, when learned correctly, is self defense.

Self-defense courses are geared more towards women. Karate is not catered to a specific group.

I'd say self-defense. You'll learn more practical stuff that you can use quicker, such as how to use mace, keys, guns etc to your advantage. Karate takes years to master.

Girl that's too old ! You need to learn some kickboxing ( not to kill someone or to beatim up to almost dead) ok!!
But yes now there some techniques that kickboxing offer to people where you can Learn how to defend uourself and protect it
But nothing about violence !
Search it and maybe you will like it
