@Deke...SDOAT it's surely a great album. anyway, my analysis could seem uncorrect, but I think that It was an error to split the album in two parts..BTW! do you know who of dream theater did write the orchestral composition on that song?

I would have to say Train of Thought and Systematic Chaos because I like my music to be on the heavier side. In that regard, both of these albums really deliver well. Train of Thought has two of my favs, As I Am and Honor Thy Father, plus some other softer stuff mixed in to keep it fresh. Systematic Chaos is a really concentrated effort, with all the songs from top to bottom being well constructed, plus I love Constant Motion, Dark Eternal Night, and Forsaken (seen them all live, perfectly done of course).

FII wouldn't make my top 5 albums of theirs, and I love everything they've ever done.

'Scenes From A Memory' is near the top of the list; nothing hooks me in like a great concept album. That said, I have a special place in my heart for 'Images and Words' because a) that's the album that introduced me to DT in 1993, and b) it's a fantastic album. I also love 'Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence'. Lots of fans don't like this album very much, and I don't quite understand why. A friend of mine who's a fan described it as "too much of a good thing". I get that, but I disagree entirely. It's a masterpiece of a record.

'Train of Thought' and 'Systematic Chaos' each deserve mention, as does 'Awake'.
