I do taekwondo and i'm thinking about starting up boxing soon to get better with my hands. Should i practice jiujitsu for the wrestling and ground work? Which martial arts do you recommend i train in if i wanted to fight in MMA fights?
The closest MMA gym is over an hours drive away and i work weekdays and its closed on weekends..

MMA has quickly become sort of it's own martial art. Years ago guys would train several separate martial arts then start learning how to put it all together by training MMA. The truth is those days are gone. My advice to anyone coming into the sport would be (unless you already have experience in one of the core art forms of mma Muay Thai, BJJ, boxing, wrestling) to just learn MMA. You'll learn all you need to be able to survive an mma bout. After you've gotten your feet wet then you can start training specific areas of your game but you'll have your foundation already laid. Basically it's what everyone tells you what to do but backwards. I've notice kids making the most improvements this way.
Note: This is only good if you want to train specifically for mma. If you were to try and compete in a BJJ tournament or any other specific art form as an mma fighter you'd get owned it's just how it works. Most fighters now a days are a jack of all trades yet a master of none.

I recommend joining a gym that teaches MMA. Taekwondo is a good way to get your ass beat, though, if that's what you want to do. Joining a gym that focuses on one style is not a good idea because they are teaching you how to fight people that are bound by those set of rules.

Boxing, wrestling, and jujitsu are all very important, but an MMA gym will teach you how do do, and handle everything.

When searching for a gym make sure they have people with backgrounds in those areas.

My husband fights MMA- learning your basic wrestling skills are HUGE- boxing is a big component too, but jiu-jitsu will help tremendously. Your best bet is to join a gym or workout with people that combine all of these skills into their training-what you don't know, you will learn. Because MMA is so big right now, there are a lot of people and places that train strictly for these type of fights. Don't forget to work you cardio hard too, you don't want to get tired during a fight after you bust your butt training.

no specific one, you need a stand up game, and a ground game. thats where you get to decide. You can do wrestling or BJJ for a ground game, boxing, muay thai, are usually pretty popular. i wouldn't recomend TKD

For ground you should do Judo, Jujitsu or Brazilian Jujitsu. For standing you should do kickboxing, muay thai or some sort of style that uses hands and legs evenly. TKD is pretty good for the kicking part, and boxing is good for a striking element.
