For my main character I can't decide which of these I want to use:

1) I don't know what her name will be (I usually don't decide that until after I've developed the character more)
2) She just finished her police training but is sort of disappointed when she learns she's just one of those lame parole officers you see patrolling suburban neighborhoods. But when she is witness to a murder, she is not only a suspect but an important addition to the investigation. She helps Detective ____ (I don't know his name either) catch the killer whose face was covered at the time.
In the end they catch the murderer and she is promoted to Detective ____ partner.
3) She's very determined and not very social.
4) Okay, so first I was thinking about calling her "Quim", a nickname that originated from her brother's mispronunciation of "Kim" but I'm welcome to more suggestions!

FIRST DESCRIPTION
Ethnicity: half Asian, half white
Hair: long, dark brown, straight, usually in a bun
Eyes: oval, brown
Lips: thin smile, often frowns
Height: medium height, around 5'5" or 5'6"
Build: Slender

SECOND DESCRIPTION
Ethnicity: unknown, maybe German
Hair: medium brown, long and wavy
Eyes: big and brown
Lips: fairly large, pronounced and slightly pouty
Height" 5'7" or 5'8"
Build: athletic

What do you think? I'm open to any and all suggestions!
Thanks!
She's working with the detective without the department knowing. The detective knows she has potential and believes she is one of the only people who can help him lure the murderer into a trap they set up towards the end.
The detective is a little crazy and doesn't follow the rules very well so stuff like this is sort of expected from him.

Personally, I like the 1st description better, it suits the name Quim more :) And just has a better vibe. But maybe with the hair, have it in a short/ businesslike ponytail, its just buns reminds me too much of math teachers and boredom. But that's just me!! :D Sounds like a cool story anyhow. x

I always picture female police officers to NOT be Asian in ethnicity, so I'd prefer the second description!

I like the first description better. She sounds more unique as a police officer than the second description. I like Quim as a name too.

Make sure that if she is a suspect in the investigation, that she is not a part of the team doing the work. She should be trying to solve it on her own but telling a friend on the taskforce the clues and evidence she has found while trying to clear her name.

I like the first one, only not the bun part. :) I like Keiko as an Asian name personally :)
