Which Processor Should I Buy for a Laptop?

I am buying a laptop for college to last me for the next four years. I will use it to write papers, surf the web, and occasionally play games such as The Sims 3 or Runescape.

I am interested in buying a Sony VAIO laptop. I am confused on which processor I should purchase for the laptop though.

The options are:

- Intel core i3
- Intel core i5
- Intel core i7

Which one would be the best fit? I am not looking to buy something super expensive, but I am not looking to buy something that will be garbage later on.

Also, if anyone has any recommendations on good laptops to buy, or perhaps a different brand than Sony, please let me know.

Intel core i7 would be the best one... but also most expensive one too...
I think you should be fine with the i5-520M (2.40 GHz up to 2.93GHz with turbo boost).
