There are two roads in front of you. One road leads to the village, where all the people tell the truth. The other road leads to a village which always tell lies. You don't know which village is which. You want to go through the truth village because the other one leads to certain death. So you try and pick a road to go through until you see a man standing there in the middle of the two roads. You don't know which village he has come from.
