So in rescue attempts it seems that the British are far more calculating and clinical in their approach using careful methods and techniques to carry out rescue attempts, one example was the Libyan embassy siege in London in the early 80s. Compare that with the Yanks, they just seem to jump in feet first, guns blazing, shooting everything in sight and killing the people they were supposed to rescue (see links below) They appear to be gun ho in the extreme and it seems to be nothing new. It was said to me by an old WW2 British veteran who fought his way up from France on D-Day to the End of the War, He said that he never feared the Germans, if he was going to get hit and die he accepted it, he said the only times he feared death was if the Americans were in the same area as himself as in his words 'they shot at everything' just saturated the area with bullets and bombs no matter who was in it. Just look at the friendly fire incidents caused by the Yanks, from WW2 , Korea, Vietnam and later conflicts. Whats your thoughts? If you were a hostage would you be bricking it if you knew the Yanks were on their way?
