Asked last night really late, didn't get many answers, everyone was sleeping! 
I currently drive a 2007 Nissan Altima Coupe.
But, I need something larger, and my mom has agreed to purchase my car from me either at the end of this year or at the beginning of next year.
I have roughly 6-9 months to decide which SUV or CUV to get.
I want something with good gas mileage. I would prefer the following brands:
GMC
Chevrolet
Ford
Toyota
Nissan
Honda (maybe)
The more popular brands. I don't want a throw-away brand like Kia or Hyundai.
Again, gas mileage is a big factor. Price is iffy for me. I'm willing to spend from 20 to 40 thousand dollars, as long as gas mileage is great. I am also ok with either a Hybrid or standard gasoline vehicle. No diesels!
Please provide which vehicles you think are good, dependable, and are they known for any problems?
I have never bought an SUV/CUV before, only cars, so I would like all information possible.
