Whining sound on cold start?

Ok so today i started my vw gti when it was sitting in the cold for a while there was this whiny sound coming from the frontal part of the car near the engine i suppose, it was there for maybe a minute or two and then it went away, i do have an after market exhaust (magnaflow) if that has anything to do with it, i was just curious as to what it is and how much it would cost to fix approximately.
CAR:

Volkswagen GTI VR6
After market exhaust Magnaflow
6 speed manual transmission.
weather was at about 42F
 
Most likely it's your belt tensioner pulley

Also could be alternator bearings going out.
