When I say literature, I mean LITERATURE. I am not interested in Twilight / shitty romantic novels for horny housewives / etc. I mean things you read that make you really think and feel.

People like Holden Caulfield (as much I as detest the poor fictitous boy) and Hamlet are the type of characters I'm looking for. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you so much in advance!

HESTER Prynne- The Scarlet Letter
Gatsby- The Great Gatsby
Maggie a Girl from the Streets by Stephen Crane
Sister Carrie by Theodore Dreiser
Edna Pontellier- The Awakening
Dorian- The Portrait of Dorian Gray
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley
The Outsiders by s.e. hinton
Of Mice and Men by Steinback
TellTale by Edgar Allan Poe
Lord of the Flies by Golding

Macbeth..

His wife wore the pants in that marriage and he was always second-guessing his actions...
