I was sent this poem via a friend, who asked me to figure it out. I don't know what this poem is about. Can anyone help me?

Sir, I bear a rhyme excelling
In mystic force and magic spelling
Celestial sprites elucidate
All my own striving can't relate
 
This is a tough one. At least that's what I said when I first saw it a few years ago. You can't really figure that one out, but I had found out that the poem is about the number PI, the digits of which are illustrated by the length of each word in the riddle.
