These "Religious Righters" say that Moses talked to God through a bush that was on fire, the Red Sea parted and came back together with all the Pharohs and drowned them, Noah built and ark and somehow managed to cram two of every species in the world on it...

They accept creationism as pure fact and say that God can create a rock that's 5 billion years old when questioned about the fact that we've got rocks that are a little older than 6 thousand years old...

And yet the idea of Joseph Smith finding some golden plates... well that's just a crazy thing they find to be way too far out in orbit to have ever happened.

Then you've got Muslims, who jump up and down insisting that they're the most peaceful bunch on the planet in one breath while they're la-la-la-ing at "infidels" with the next breath right before they run a chunk of lead through the brain of their neighbor just for being a Christian on a Friday night.

Wow, I actually agree with you on something!! There is hope!!

People concocted religion to explain the unexplainable....the 'god of the gaps' theory. At first, it made perfect sense...as EVERYTHING appeared to come from the gods....rain, sunlight, warmth, darkness. People found that there was a chance that, if they gave thanks or homage to the gods, that they would receive favor in the way of rain for crops, and--at a very primitive level--that the sun god would come back again each morning to ward off the evil darkness god...which made them fearful.
