...for going on extremely long hikes? like i would like to use a military ruck over a civilian backpack because they have been used by the military under extreme conditions with little or no problems; where civilian backpacks are lighter and some say are better than the military issued ones but if they where better, the military would slap on a cam job on it and would use it (granted there are jobs that heavier is better). what are your thoughts?

the new army ruck is awesome, compared to the old one but I still have worn some civilian rucks that are still much more comfortable and lighter. Just because something is better than what the Army has does not mean they will just "slap some camo on it" because we are a broke nation with defense money being spent on "universal health care plans" and giving illegals licenses, screw our backs huh? Thanks Bin Laden

Until recently, civilian companies offered far superior equipment for a price. The military didn't use them b/c they weren't cost effective. Joe can suffer a little bit to save Uncle Sam a few bucks. Not that military gear is exactly cheap to come by either.

The new Army ruck is fanfuckingtastic
