who knows about cellphone towers?

The phone company most likely keeps a history of when a phone call was made and to who. It's unlikely that they'll keep track of the location past phone calls were made. It's also highly unlikely that the phone company will be able to verify who used the phone at any particular time.

MY boyfriend is in a serious investigation and his life depends on this. I dont know how exactly cellphone towers work but we live in Lowell,MA. and he had a nextel phone and the place where it happened was on fletcher st. and he was atleaset 2 miles away near billerica near chaunecy ter. he knows he definately used his phone, is there anyways the phone records or phone company would have this information or anything similiar to it that could help? i know this sounds complicated but we are desperate and thank you to any serious answers.
