I got into a debate with my boyfriend about punk rock. He says that the Sex Pistols introduced punk rock and how revolutionary they were to English punk. I know that for the states in particular this isn't true as the New York Dolls were out first and the Sex Pistols admittedly were duplicating their 'style' to bank on on the look commercially. I'd like to better my argument but I don't know enough about Brit punk in that time to make a valid case. Were there any 'better' bands that were before the Sex Pistols during that time that could have introduced it first? I refuse to believe the Pistols introduced punk rock to England. Thanks!
