why are cell phone contracts so expensive?

I use pre paid and I plan keeping that why when if ever have a wife

it seems ridiculous that a cell contract can cost up to 100 bucks a month, when other services, like a land line phone, cable tv, internet, are all so much cheaper. is there a reason for this, or are cell companies just taking advantage of the fact that people today have to have a cell?

I'm sorry? You HAVE to have a cell? Since when? See, that's the problem. You buy into the whole idea that cell phones are a necessity. Once you believe that, a company can charge you anything they want.
