okay so we could hear conversations through a bathroom vent in a hotel and other people could hear us, why is that?

Vents are in the bathroom so the damp air from taking a shower/bath will evaporate faster and mold will not grow in the bathroom.

the ducts are connected and go to one outlet fan, its more efficient that way. The vents are there because there are no windows in he bathroom to open, and steam from showers, or smells need to be exhausted from the building.

To exhaust moist air caused when showering or bathing. If moist air is not removed it may cause condensation in the home or attic, which may result in mold.(Fan also gets rid of stink)

the vents are there to remove moisture from the air to help prevent mold growth.

so all the stink has somewhere to go. also so fresh air can enter the bathroom.
