Why are we arguing with the Muslims?

Instead of arguing against the Muslims concerning the construction of a Mosque near ground zero why don't we view it as an opportunity? We could declare ground zero a peaceful place for the display of symbols and places of worship for all religions. Christian churches, Jewish synagogues, Buddhist temples, etc. Surely if New York welcomes Muslims it would welcome all faiths.
