Why can I view thumbnails on my Sony Ericsson mobile but not on my laptop?

I bought a new Micro SD 8G memory card especially for my daughters 1st birthday and a trip to London.
The card was working fine on my daughters birthday, I saved the photo's to my laptop in case I lost it in London. Then I put the memory card back in my phone to use for music on the way to London. When I was there the next day I put the card back in my camera and used it to take lots of photo's. I then tried to look at what I had taken and found that none of them were showing up. So I assumed something had happened to the camera and put the memory card back into my mobile. I continued to use my mobile to take photo's. I checked to see if the photo's were being saved and they were!
The next day after taking more photo's I found after looking through the photo album on my mobile that the newest photo's had been duplicating over the older photo's. So I have about 150 or so original photo's and then these are repeated over the original photo's from earlier.
I can view the thumbnails of all the photo's but when I open them they show as the latest photo's and usually on a different angle, and elongated. I can't find the thumbnail images on my laptop to restore them. It is only showing as an unknown source.
I am very upset about this as I took loads of great photo's.
Can anyone help? I have tried as much as I can but I am now at a loss.

on ur laptop photo's folder there should be a drop down bar that says 'view' click that and chose thumbnails...

if not.. somewhere in the windeow where there is nothing.. right click> view> thumbnails... (on newer computers/ laptops.. its not called tumbnails.. its large or extra large
