why cant i download through bitlord or bittorrent?

ive been trying to download torrents using bittorrent and bitlord and it wont work. ive uninstalled and reinstalled both programmes. bitlord now wont open and bittorrent says downloading beside each file but has no seeds or peers. on the website i got it from, it had thousands of seeds and peers
