Since you:
1) Had a problem.
2) Called tech support.
3) They told you how to flash your BIOS
4 You flashed your BIOS
5) Your problem went away.

Then I suspect that you were dealing with a "known issue" regarding your particular motherboard manufacturer.

So you would have to ask THEM why.

My computer is about 6 months old. I use it to edit video and never get on the internet with it. It's a quad-core runs Vista 64 w/ 8gigs of RAM. It started shutting itself off randomly about 2 weeks ago. I'd use it for about 10 minutes and then it would just lose power. I contacted tech support and they told me how to flash my BIOS. Now the computer seems to be running just fine. I just don't understand what could've led to the power issues in the first place, and why flashing the BIOS seemed to fix it.
