Why did Jesus Christ pray?

Or more specifically, why did he pray to himself?

He prayed to His Father in Heaven, God. However, if you think this discredits Him (Jesus) from being God, than you are wrong, and need some help here.

He didn't pray to Himself. He prayed to the Father, a separate and distinct Person. He prayed because He was a man like us, as well as God.
