This bill would allow Internet Service Providers to slow down and block certain Internet content of their own choice to their subscribers.

The best part is he had the opposite opinion last year. Why does McCain think this can pass, and why doesn't he think everyone is going to be outraged?

Republicans have been for net neutrality since the beginning, but recently a wave of them have been joining the big telephone companies in wanting to charge more for less Internet access (and opposing everyone else).

Can you guess why? Glenn Beck said that net neutrality is a "Marxist plot." Suddenly, it's a debate, and taking away freedom is patriotic. You can't make this stuff up.

If you're a Republican, I hope you'll disagree with Beck about this one. It's really that black and white. Beck is literally in support of restricting our online freedom to make telecommunications companies more money. Then he calls opposing this a "Marxist plot."

The Internet has always been neutral. By Beck's logic, everyone who uses the Internet is a Marxist. Do you see how silly he sounds?

first it was bush with habeas corpus and privacy. Now McCain goes on the attack against free speech and fair market.

Actually he wasn't one of the ten who voted on that bill. Lets be fair, lets not become republicans.

Internet service providers have to buy bandwidth.

If a certain thing is eating up a lot of bandwidth and is questionable the Internet Service Provider should have the right to block it.

The company belongs to them and they have the right to distribute what they want to.

Amazing. First McCain votes against a bill that would prevent the government from hiring contracting companies such who require their employees to sign away their arbitration rights. The bill was written for a young woman who was brutally gang raped and locked in a shipping crate for three days.
McCain's problem? He votes along whoever he thinks will line his pockets. He's corrupt, ignorant, and those very traits cost him the election in 2008.

McCain receives a lot of campaign money from the telecom companies. I believe he is paying back his campaign contributors. Amazing that during the election, McCain said he is illiterate about computers. But isn't McCain typical for the Grand Opposition Party...Obama support Net Neutrality...so McCain would oppose it. The man didn't even know the economy was in trouble. McCain is not too astute.

John McCain an avowed technophobe(1) receives the most Internet provider contributions of any Senator. So, I would say that the language of the bill was written by the Internet providers and all he did was sponsor the bill.

This is the third time that I know of that Time Warner, AT&T and ten other major ISP's have tried to have this bill passed. I find it funny that they chose John McCain, who by his own words during the campaign in 2008 admitted that he could not even turn on a computer, as the Sponsor of their bill.

Do you realize there isn't a single law that prevents grocery stores from charging you $1,000 for a loaf of bread? Does this alarm anyone? Of course not. It's called competition. If your ISP doesn't allow you to acces the content you want, drop them. This "fear mongering" from the Left that the big bad corporations are going to restrict your internet is hogwash, plain and simple. ISPs have to compete for your business, and imposing unreasonable restrictions isn't a good way to win customers, is it? Obama wants to get his regulatory hooks into every aspect of the American economy, and this is just another ruse toward accomplishing that. Once the government is charged with regulating the internet, it will never stop. Can you think of one regulatory agency that hasn't expanded over time? No.

I know, you know, (1) that the Obama administration started in on Fox Cable News for exposing Acorn, (2) that Glen Beck has been broadcasting nightly names of White House members who are trying to put a muzzle on the net.
