Why did my friend have animal ears in my dream?

Last night I dreamed my guy friend had ears that were on the top of his head that looked like fox ears, but they matched his hair color. In my dream, he hid them under a hoodie. I remember seeing him sitting on the couch in my dream, and I walked up to him, wrapped my arms around him and put my head next to his - to which he moved away very fast in order to try to hide his ears. I told him he didn't need to be embarrassed because I already knew, and it was totally fine that he was that way.

WHY in the world did I have this dream, and what does it mean? Please help me try to interpret this.
