Why didn't anyone complain so much when Bush spoke to school children?

The things he spoke about such as "work hard at school" etc. hardly seem "socialist propaganda"....

I think it's just become the "cool" thing for Americans to hate on the their president.

I mean disagreeing with him is one thing, even passionately disagreeing with he president, but the amount of fear of a communist takeover shows how hysterical the fear of the right right really is. I can't believe some of the stuff people come out with.
For those that are saying "they did", I'm pretty sure they didn't complain about Bush speaking to children anywhere NEAR this level. They complained about Bush for other stuff, but only a small handful of people complained about something so petty as this.

they did, as a matter of fact the chairman of finances wanted an investigation into why it costs only $26k to host the event, I want the Democrats to order the finance committee to find out how much this speech cost

it's pretty amazing isn't it? seems that the anonymous internet makes everyone an "expert". pretty scary, when you think of it.

After the Speech by Bush 1 the democratic congress had the hole deal investigated, for months they had people testifying. No wrong doing was found. Now tell me again no one complained. Go back and read about it. it was in all the papers.

It's called having respect no matter who the President is or what party they are affiliated with. I would never disrespect our country's leader like these people are with Obama. It's disgusting.

It's called paranoia, and the Republican party is full of paranoiacs these days. They're afraid of terrorists, Mexicans, weed, taxing the wealthy, properly educating American students, fixing a broken healthcare system, a simple speech, and a myriad of other issues.

The Dems complained about George HW Bush.

@ No Bo!!, you say he changed his speech. Pony up some proof of that statement or shut up.

Some people did complain, but not as vehemently as they did about Obama. Even Newt Gingrich said all the furor over the president's speech was ridiculous. I agree with him.

Because any one could see George Bush and know him to be a simpleton, BarcaK Obama is deceitful and should not be allowed near children, lest their purity be led astray.

Also he never did it, his father the senior did.

I never heard anyone complain. Just because the guy wasn't very smart didn't mean that I was against him speaking to kids. All Presidents do. The Republicans are desperate. They have no ideas good or bad and are looking for anything they can. Its the same garbage we've been hearing the last 25 years. They need to find some new material or better yet put some ideas on the table instead of complaining.

You mean besides the congressional hearing the democrats in congress held, the GAO investigation the democrats in congress ordered.

To see if it was legal for Bush to give the speech ?

I haven't seen any republicans calling for a criminal investigation into Obama speech.

The democrats back in 1991, called for a criminal investigation into the Bush speech.

Only a small handful of democrats are nutty fair-weather patriots. With republicans it's like 80% of the party.
