Why DivX videos don't play on my computer?

It's already almost one year I can't watch on my computer any DivX format video clip. Even after I have reinstalled my system, this problem persists. It doesn't depend on the player I use(it was thousands of them), and I've reinstalled my DivX codecs thousands of times too. Nothing helpes. I began thinking the only problem is my Video card? What can it be? Every time I choose a DivX movie to be played an error message appears that the player has a problem and needs to close. No matter what player I use. Everytime is the same problem.

Very insteresting .. have you downloaded the genuine Divx codec/player from the Divx website?

Do you know about VLC player? (videolan.org). I have yet to find a format that VLC was unable to play (no codecs required!)

Are you using Windows XP SP2 or better?

The one i use plays all types of video and audio files.
i.e. Media player classic

you can download this code from
http://www.free-codecs.com/Media_Player_...

Download and install it on your computer.
Now select the file, right click and select "open with.."
now from the list of programs, select "Media player classic"
dont forget to check the box saying "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file" so that next time the file will automatically select media player classic as the default player.

hit ok.
