Why do audiophiles prefer their albums on vinyl?

Even on B&O or other great system, it starts of great but torwards the end where the epic songs usually are the sound quality deteriorates seriously. SO why do people prefer vinyl?
(I was tempted to buy a LP but this puts me off. Or has vinyl LP's got better since 1990?)
They are releasing many great metal albums on vinyl of different weight whatever this means...

It is just nostalgia. I prefer to write with a feather than use a pen. We are just weird.

I agree with who me they are A bit eccentric (weird). I met allot of them when I worked in the stereo bizz.
Hard to satisfy and set in there ways. Also most I met were older and vinyl is what they grew up with.
