Why do conservatives support dodging any responsibility of paying for the privilege

of living in this country? They became rich either through inheriting money - not working, or by hundreds of people working their butts off for them.

It's a mystery why the GOP caters to the rich, unless it's because the rich cater to them. All the payoffs that Congress receives from the super rich go to the conservatives. And do they ever show their gratefulness. The people though? That's the real mystery. Conservatives continue to vote and rail against their own interests, and buy whatever their Republican handlers tell them. Why? Mostly because the GOP supports their social wedge issues. So they continue to vote against their own economic interest in favor of pie in the sky promises such as abortion will be outlawed and gay marriage can be stopped.

Your question appears to be based on a false premise.

Conservatives may be rich or poor, but they tend to be self-supporting and willing to pay their taxes and to contribute to churches and charities and their communities. The armed forces of the United States include many men and women who are conservative and are willing to pay the ultimate price to protect and defend our nation.

Of the 57% of the people who do not pay any income taxes, a great many are not conservative. Like everyone else, they require the services of the government. Perhaps they all should pay some taxes so they have some skin in the game and will pay more attention to the way the government uses their money.

Our country's tax system needs to be changed, and the government needs to control spending. Dividing the people over these issues for political purposes is counter-productive.

The far-right-wingers who seized control of the GOP in Reagan days talk the talk of "personal responsibility" for their sound-bit photo-ops and TV interviews, but they simply do not know how to nor are they willing to "walk the walk." My guess the main reason might be that many of the cult-driven GOP'ers and TeaP'ers had parental authority figures who were highly permissive or perhaps absent, or else DISMISSIVE and indifferent (like Bush Sr. towards GW) towards these corporate-colluders when they were "knee-high to a grasshopper" (infants and toddlers). Their mom or other maternal figure perhaps cleaned up after them (the way us Democrats now have to come in ande clean up their FISCAL MESSES) because, as children, they were not expected to carry their fair share to sustain the family their spoiled-brattiness wreaked havoc upon...

It's one theory, anyhoo...

A lot of Democrats became rich the same way, and only a small percentage of conservatives are rich like that.

What about the welfare class taking in more tax benefits than they pay?
