Why do environtmentalists focus on global warming?

I know the rivers in my city are so poluted that the fish have three eyes. i don't hear anyone trying to clean up the water, but they stay on this global warming thing that is a thousand years away. I think it is because they want to pretend to care about the environment, without really doing anything, because not even Al Gore has done one thing about global warming, because it is seen as too overwhelming to realistically be solved.

Why are yall focused on global warming and not things that can be controlled, like water pollution and stuff?

You have it very much correct. They are pretending to care and they all want us to worry about polar bears drowning because the ice caps they walk on are melting. So it's a scare tactic; and a money-grab. Al Gore has made God knows how much off of An Inconvenient Truth and pushing the hybrid car thing.
His house uses more energy than your house and my entire apartment building combined!!!!!
