...requirements end in a certain year? Today, I went to get the Samsung Rogue at a local Verizon store. As I was about to buy it, the lady told my parents and I that you have to pay a data plan now to get any phone better than one of those crappy flip ones. I really wanted this phone, and there is no choice for no data plan and no internet, otherwise I would choose it. I know the phone wouldn't be useful, but I still really like the design. My parents don't want to pay an extra ten dollars a month for internet I wont use, which is disappointing. My question is is it possible to get the Rogue without a data plan?
Also, are they making new customers pay for data plans because verizon needs more money and then they will shut down the whole data plan requirement in like 2012, or is the requirement for new customers to pay data plans the future of phone companies?
I would really like to know this because I want to know whether I should get a crappy phone now and wait 2 years, and get an upgrade and not have to pay a data plan, or I should just convince my parents that they will never change the data plan requirement, so why not just get the phone now.
Thank you!
