Why is an insurance company allowed to discriminate based on age and sex. I am 17, in ontario with a G2 drivers license, I completed a drivers ed course and got passed early. The insurance company wants $ 7156 a year for a 2004 nissan pathfinder armada. I have a spotless driving record since i started driving. My average in school is 93 % and i do not hang around sketchy or dangerous people. I have a friend who is a girl and has already got in an accident within her first month driving. Her insurance is only $ 3000 and that with the increase after her at-fault accident. What i want to know is how can insurance companies be discriminating based on age and sex, and how can i get a lower insurance rate here in ontario. I know males on average wreck cars more, but i do not why should the good guys get screwed because some guys choose to drive irresponsibly. And why cannot insurance companies simply look at each teenager on a case to case basis and not make assumptions. Do you realize how hard it is to come up with $7000 for insurance, so adults cannot even afford that how will a teen. My insurance will not even drop till im 28, what am i supposed to do, walk for the next 11 years ?
