I'm trying to get into the ARNG because I can't join ANY other branch because of a marijuana ticket I got. I have a lot of friends in the Marines and Air Force and when I talk to them and they find out I'm joining the ARNG they just laugh and give me ****. I mean.. I wanted to be a Marine my whole life but I can't! I'm going active duty and infantry and they still think the ARNG is full of "Pussys and fatasses".
Why do people look at people in the ARNG as inferior?

Once upon a time, The National Guard and reserves were :" weekend warriors." They played soldier during weekend drills, and spent two weeks every summer at what was an endless beer party.. Not any more~~~!!!!!
The ARNG is inferior to no one! in fact a lot of NG units are doing a great job in Iraq and Pakistan. A friend, NG, just got back from his 3rd deployment to Iraq!
He's a pussy and fatass? Yea, right!

Donlt let "em get under your skin. In fact, #### "em!

Because they use to be referred to as weekend warriors. training over the weekend then back to their day jobs. but what a lot of people dont relize is that ARNG is taking up alot of the slack in Iraq as more units rotate home. in other words fuck them

It's a combination of interservice rivalry and the reputation the Guard developed during the cold war and 90s as a strategic reserve. The modern Guard is different from the Guard of 5-10 years ago. About five years ago is when all the old school dirtbags started getting out. A lot of them have been replaced by former active duty types who didn't like the active Army's deployment rotation. It makes for a much stronger, much more experienced Guard. There's always going to be interservice rivalry and the guys who "work" full time are always going to hate on the people who work part time. It bothered me a lot less once I got overseas and saw how institutionalized, unimaginative, juvenile and retarded much of the active military is.

I got the same crap when I went to school for the Cobra, and when one RA pointed to the list of the top rotary-wing aviation units in the US Military, all branches, and challenged me to point out EVEN ONE ARNG unit, I pointed to the #1 unit and told him that was mine. I graduated top of my class as well, really ticked of the RA guys to be beat out by a Guardsman.

Mostly jealousy, so next time just remind them about a few National Guardsmen, Teddy Roosevelt, Charles Lindbergh, Audie Murphy, 158th Infantry, National Guard of Arizona,

because if we use an analogy of what many people think, a marine is to a policeman what the national guard is to a security guard.
Air force plp shouldnt be running their mouths though, its been called the "chAir force" for a reason.

They are laughing at you because most of the People who go into the National Guard and reserves are not willing to make a commitment to the real military. The basic training and all other aspects of those services are nothing compared to actual military training. A lot of the people who have gone into the Reserves thought they had it made until their reserve units got called up and sent overseas, then they found out how inadequately they had been trained.
They do not call them WEEKEND WARRIORS for nothing. Most are overweight and could not even run a mile if they had to.
