Why do my torrents download so slow?

I'm using vuze on mac, when i download something from a website my internet goes 100kps-150 kB/s but when i download a torrent it only goes about 10-14 kB/s even when it has 2146 seeders and 19 leechers.
 
Some Internet providers will throttle Bit Torrent activity. Cox, Comcast, and Virgin all come to mind. I'm sure there are more.
