why do other girls in my class laugh at my curly hair?

i love wearing my hair nature it describes who i am. they would chuckle when i would walk in the class room they would tell you should straighten you're hair. but they wear fake hair. so would they want to make fun of my hair? is it because i'm the odd one out of the group.
