Why do people call stores, and demand prices, specs., and model numbers of computers?

I mean seriously, people are too lazy, to get off their rump, and just shop around, they have to use nothing but their phone?
Are human beings really getting to the point, where they think that their hourly wage, means that they need to be serviced, by every single retailer, like QVC or HSN?
