I can completely understand the view of Agnostics. They neither accept nor refute the existence of god, right? They leave that idea in the 'possible' basket. How can an Atheist be so sure that there is no God? If I could get the opinion/testimony of some Atheists on this too, that'd be great.
And it seems that modern Atheists take a very scientific and objective approach to their stance. But that just doesn't make sense to me, because how can you prove that something doesn't exist? For example, if my brother told me there was a turtle somewhere in my city, I couldn't realisticly search my backyard and then come to the conclusion that there is no turtle. I'd have to search the whole city, and somehow keep an eye on every place at one time (coz turtles can move) before I can be sure of the existence, or lack of, the turtle. I know that's kind of a weird analogy but I hope it sort of illustrates what I mean.
Why can't an Atheist perhaps decide that god just isn't quite like they thought he was, or that the character of god in certain (or all) religions is inaccurate, rather than running around telling people they're just plain wrong.
Sorry if I come accross as a bit...accusatory, I don't mean to be. If there's more to Atheism or some crucial point that I'm missing then please, enlighten me.
