state the predictions as G-d's word? To be a prophet one must not just be able to predict or in this case state a blessing that controls a future of a son, but be hired by G-d to state a message G-d wanted the audience to know.

So how can people quote such as if it is prophecy? Is it just because it is a prediction or fortelling?
Edit: Abraham may have been a prophet at times. G-d did reveal things to Abraham. The question however narrows a bit to the idea that a blessing on the sons is ever treated as a prophecy. Prediction yes, prophecy no?

Now G-d did, as the story states, say things that may have influenced the blessings that Abraham chose but it appears Abraham's free will to speak on his own was what went into the blessings. Yes? No?
