impossible? I've heard this argument about how, if you do something an infinite amount of time from now it never gets done (which is a poor understanding of infinity, but stick with it for now) - so why is God immune to this? Why doesn't this imply that God must have been created Himself, if infinity is not logically possible?
But, NGNM, my point is that they must be able to fathom infinite scales - they say God is infinite and the afterlife is eternal.

Because they cannot fathom it

Our minds haven't evolved the capability to understand time on huge time scales. Our lives revolve around years, decades, and centuries

EDIT:
And I agree. They like to say "God is infinite", and they are totally fine with saying that

But once someone says "The Universe is infinite", they cannot understand how

Using Occam's Razor:
A) the Universe was created by an infinite being, you have two things to explain: How the universe came into being (how it happened) and how the being was created, since they state everything must have a creator.

B) the Universe is infinite, and you only have one thing to explain, how the Universe [as we know it] began

The most logical, and simplest is B

Hope that makes sense

Because the chain of causation MUST stop at some time, and the only way possible for that is within a dimension that does not contain spacetime. Otherwise, every cause and effect needs to be continually explained, ad infinitum

And yes, no human being can conceive of the infinite correctly

EDIT: The universe cannot possibly be infinite because it has a certain age verified by science, and that would also refute big bang theory. Think about it, the universe was non-existent before the expansion, so what "no gods no masters" states is simply impossible

Much the way a boy becomes a man when a man is needed.
Man became a god when a god was needed.
The man is free to be the boy once the man is no longer needed
The god will be free to be the man when the god is no longer needed.
The only infinite possibility is change.
There is no immunity against change.

Why do atheists use creationsists as the evil boogeymen? Honestly, 90 percent of the christians i have met are not creationsts. I guess we will never know the answer to either of these questions. May the force be with you

I am a christian.
I am confused what you are saying or asking.
Christian most certainly believe in eternity.
