...world is much worse? I have met countless number of slum dwellers in India that would do anything to live even the life of a homeless man in the United States..when I told them that in the US, there are homeless shelters and soup kitchens every saturday for the poor to eat, the slum dwellers in India told me that is paradise
All these experiences I had were at my internship working with an NGO that worked with Indian slums
I do not doubt that being homeless in chicago or ny during the winter must be brutal..but i bet being homeless in a developing country like russia where the winters are far worse and the standard of living is much lower would be much more brutal for a homeless person

well i think people who came to America whine more than people who born here..cos either they r refugees, immigrants or illegal expecting something lavish or luxury, which they don't get in their country..they think america should offer them more than what is in their own country...well too bad...America is just like any other country nothing is free got to work for it...

So you're saying that just because there are people poorer than us, that we should be content with our own relative poverty?

because everyone's personal experience is valid, I currently have a boss who drives me up the wall. she is mean, puts me down is nit picky, stressful and bossy. yes it is not the worst employment situation, there are many people who are employed under much worse conditions around the world but my own experience is valid. i live in a country (australia) where i can realistically expect to be treated better at work (yes i am job hunting and got an interview on monday) but even tho others are worse off my situation still sucks for me.

If there is an electric power cut for one hour in USA, most of the shops will be looted. That is not happening in India. Because our people believe in Karma, and bear their lives.

I have observed one more thing with the poor in India.
People of poverty enjoy more close personal
relationships which are highly heartening. Their mutual
understanding as a group is incomparable. It is we who
are poor in such relationships.

Americans have such a lavish lifestyle that people will always moan when they get less than others. It is a inbred "right" that Americans think they deserve lavish luxuries.

It's an incredibly selfish place and to be fair, if one were poor living amongst such hugely wasteful and selfish people, one would proabably moan. Its all relative.
