Why do the vast majority of Christians assume that being an "atheist" automatically renders you a hard-core evolutionist, and a firm believer of Big Bang Theory?

In addition, why are atheists - that is, simply, people without a religion - bundled into a category as being conspiring / fighting against their religion and God?

Note:- Don't let this descend into a theistic battle, this is about the feelings and (in my opinion, unfounded) beliefs with regards to people that aren't also Christian, rather than the validity of Christianity

Cheers
Thanks for the answers so far - many have stated that they don't, or that the vast majority don't... I may be generalising myself on the latter (though it's just from my own observations with many non-fundamentalist Christians), though it still remains that a huge chunk do assume so

And with you personally not assuming it, that doesn't really shed much light on my question =/

But thanks guys :)

Maybe you haven't noticed, but people of a certain religion love criticizing people of other religions. Catholics prosecute puritans, who prosecute muslims and e.t.c. The only common ground held by all religions is prosecuting those who believe in nothing.

Squirrel!

Christians, particularly Fundamentalist, have some odd beliefs. Some believe that anyone who is not worshiping Christ, must be worshiping the Anti-Christ. So obviously all Atheists are spawns of Satan and believe all of Satan's lies, like the Earth is not the Center of the Universe, the Earth is round and not flat, the Big Bang theory, and of course, Evolution. Also, it is well known that Atheist and other unbelievers use Arabic numerals to do their sums.

good point but i believe anyone who deny divinity of CHRIST is an athiest

The vituperation you hear from the new atheists couldn't leave you in much doubt that they are violently anti-Christian. The same is not true of the old atheists. I even know of one who is a regular contributor to a Christian website.

Nothing wrong with evolution or the big bang theory, unless they are turned into an ersatz religion.

I have prayed Jesus save me , That makes me one of his . Christian if I am to be murdered for the faith I would suppose .

I think Atheist have their solution to disregard .
People are subject to their mental percepton of society as well , their surroundings .

I don't have any firm belief concerning a word . For all people are divided by their own personal outlook . Not a jaded label . Like Christian , Atheist , Muslim , Bhuddist .

It's just an over-generalization. But it is true that most atheists at least accept evolution and Big Bang theory.

I doubt the vast majority of Christians do.

The vast majority of Christians aren't stupid fundamentalist types. The vast majority on R&S might be that type, but IRL they aren't.
