why do volvo cars have there lights on during bright daylight?

while driving i always notice that volvo cars have there headlights on during bright daylight when being driven why is this as me an a friend was curious

just like motorcycles by law should have their lights on at all times to make them stand out that bit more, it is a legal requirement in the country where they are made, for the same reason to try reduce the amount of accidents
